SPEED & ACCURACY
Typing practice
Practice everyday English, work emails, or numbers with a timed typing test.
A little practice, every day
No login requiredType spaces and punctuation exactly. Backspace is allowed. Paste and drop are disabled during practice. Use a physical keyboard for the most consistent comparisons.
Ready. Start typing when you are comfortable.
Practice a specific skill, then compare like with like
Choose everyday English for simple sentences, work emails for capitals and punctuation, or numbers for data-entry practice. A one-minute test gives quick feedback; three or five minutes helps you observe consistency. These passages were written for DailyCalcLab and are practice material, not employer certification tests.
How the score is calculated
A standardized typing “word” is five characters, including spaces and punctuation. This tool counts characters that match the passage at the same position. Correct WPM is matching characters ÷ 5 ÷ elapsed minutes. Accuracy is matching characters ÷ entered characters × 100.
For example, 250 entered characters in one minute with 240 matches gives 48 correct WPM and 96% accuracy. This is not gross WPM, which would be 50. Different testing services may use other error penalties or scoring rules.
Corrections and timing
The timer begins with your first character. Backspace lets you correct errors; the score reflects the text remaining in the box rather than every key you pressed. Missing a character can shift later comparisons until you correct it. The timer continues if you switch tabs, and the test ends when time runs out or you reach the end of the passage.
Longer passages repeat the selected practice material so you can continue through the timed session. Paste is disabled, but this is a self-practice tool rather than a monitored examination. Browser extensions, predictive keyboards, and automatic corrections can affect results.
A simple practice routine
- Choose one mode and test length and keep them consistent across comparisons.
- Complete a test at a comfortable pace.
- Look at errors as well as speed. Practice the characters that caused mistakes.
- Repeat after a short break and compare accuracy before trying to type faster.
Numbers mode reports the same five-character WPM measure. It does not claim to measure a particular employer's keystrokes-per-hour benchmark. For text cleanup after practice, use text tools.
Optional history
Results are saved only when you select the history option. The last ten results stay in this browser's local storage and include date, mode, duration, WPM, and accuracy—not what you typed. Clear saved results removes them. Private browsing, device changes, or clearing browser data can remove history, so it is not a permanent record.
